Description of Project: 

Due to the poor health status of the population in  Ceará, the Brazilian Government initiated the ‘Right to Health’ project (1995-1998). The aim was to improve the health status of the population in the regions (DESES) Sobral (DESES X) and Itapipoca (DESES XIII) and to increase the acceptance and usage of  health services  through the assistance of the  implementation of the family health program (PSF). Project objectives included support to the Family Health Program (PSF); decentralisation of health services and activities; human resources development (training, education, and management); and  improvement of health infrastructure and maintenance in the regions of Sobral and Itapipoca.

Description of Services: 

The tasks assigned to the expert team included  preparing a basic study, operational planning and planning of infrastructure measures for primary health care centres.
