As a part of the EU Framework Contract Lot 4, EPOS Health Management started in January 2020 an EU funded Technical Assistance Contract to upgrade and expand the Belize Health Information System (BHIS). The major aim of the project is to expand and upgrade the BHIS to modern standards and make it more user – friendly and more efficient. Ultimately, the introduction of new technologies will allow to provide better health services to the people of Belize, reducing time to paper work and data entry and allowing doctors to spend more time providing care to patients. The project will be operational until December 2022 at the Ministry of Health in Belmopan. Our team is led by Dr. Christoph Bunge, long time associated expert of EPOS with contribution from Peter Ottis, Leonidas Crisciunas and Chris Larsen. Backstopping support is provided by Oxana Abovskaya. The European Union’s Technical Office in Belize, represented by team leader Nicolaus Hansmann, is the responsible management body and assures complementarity to both, the other EU funded actions under the Belize Health Support Programme and the overall interventions of the European Development Fund (EDF 11) in Belize.
